AND THE WOMEN KNEW
Her Ancestors and her Elders below gather, the women gather and know. Her Ancestors see who they hoped for and the Elders see who they dream about. She sees the shoulders she stood on and saw all of their visions for a better time. Her successes and dreams heals the wounds of her Ancestors and calm the spirits of her Elders.
This painting took on a life of its own, I only provided the hands, brush and paint. As I moved to the canvas her Ancestors began to speak to the Elders and the Elders translated for me. They described her and the brush guided my hands according to their instructions. Both Ancestors and Elders saw in her the beginning of a new vision.
